After the Mata Mata gate was closed in 1990 the eastern border leading into the Kalahari Gemsbok Park in South Africa, it has re-opened in 2007. This border is part of a transfrontier tourist route. Here you are able to experience the magnificent red dunes of the Kalahari and meet its inhabitants, the San (Bushmen). You will be able to meet them at the settlements with their ancient heritage who roamed the Kalahari Desert for thousands of years. Bushman myths and legends are handed down fron generation to generation in forms of poetry and songs. The veld is the Bushmans means and ways of survival.
